Installing new timber over old floorboards in Yokine
Yokine’s post-war homes usually have timber floors on joists. Some can be sanded back, but others are patchy, painted or uneven. If you want a completely new look without pulling the old floor up, timber floor installation in Yokine can often go straight over the top.
If the existing boards are firmly fixed and reasonably flat, pre-finished engineered timber can be laid over them with a suitable underlay. The old floor becomes a solid base, which saves the time and cost of removal. Loose boards are re-fixed and high spots levelled before the new floor goes down.
Laying over the old floor raises the height slightly, so we check doors and thresholds and allow for trimming.
