Restoring period floors in Subiaco
Subiaco has some of Perth’s oldest housing, with Federation and Victorian-era cottages and villas built more than a century ago. Their floors – usually jarrah, sometimes Baltic pine – have often been sanded several times before. Floor sanding in Subiaco needs care so there’s enough timber left for future generations.
We check the boards before we start. If they’ve worn thin above the tongue, we use a lighter sanding approach and may recommend replacing the worst boards with recycled timber. Loose boards are secured, gaps filled and edges sanded, then the floor is polished with a finish that suits the home’s age.
Subiaco also has newer townhouses and apartments, especially around the redeveloped areas. We recoat and sand engineered and solid timber floors in these homes too.
