Restoring old jarrah in Guildford’s heritage buildings
Guildford was founded in 1829 and is one of the oldest towns in Western Australia, so many of its cottages, villas and commercial buildings have floors that are well over a century old. Floor sanding in Guildford is about restoring those boards without losing the patina and character that make them special.
Heritage floors often have uneven boards, old repairs, square-head nails and wide gaps from years of movement. We punch nails below the surface, re-fix loose boards and patch with recycled jarrah where needed. Sanding is kept to the minimum needed to remove old coatings and wear before the floor is polished.
We also work in Guildford’s heritage shops, cafés and galleries along James Street, where timber floors need to look good and stand up to customer traffic. We can schedule this work outside trading hours.
